AJ Guevara is a Filipino-American multidisciplinary performance artist, educator, and director based in New York City. He holds a BFA from VIrginia COmmonwealth Universtiy, with additional training from Accedemia dell’Arte (Arezzo, IT) and American Dance Festival. His background in floorwork, yoga, improvisation, immersive theater, puppetry, and large-scale apparatus work has informed his distinctive style that blends athletic, acrobatic movement with dynamic partnering to create bold, physical performances.
Company credits include Company SBB/Stefanie Batten Bland, Pony Box Dance Theater, Tiffany Mills Company, Poncili Creacion, Heidi Latsky Dance, Emursive Productions, AXIS Dance Company, Beth Morrison Projects, and Company|E, among others.
His work with Company|E, in partnership with the US State Department, has allowed him to serve as an Artistic Diplomat for Cultural Exchange- Allowing him to perform and present choreography in Tunisia, Qatar, The UAE, Cuba, The United Kingdom, Uruguay, Georgia, Thailand, and Palestine.
He has been presented workshops and choreography in Armenia, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Germany, Mexico, Romania, Portugal, Vietnam, as well as Universities and Institutions across the USA.
Most recently, AJ has worked with DIAVOLO | Architecture in Motion, The Metropolitan Opera, and Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy at The Shed.
He is also the Co-Director of BURNTSALADtanz and N/A Dances- The resident company of Festival Internacional De Danza Avant Garde (Merida, MX).
