On August 10th, CHAOS accompanied Shannon Walsh’s Sofar Sounds Berlin performance at the historic Wasserturm Prenzlauer Berg with liquid light art and analogue visuals. The live music and movement, combined with the tower’s 6-second natural reverb and circular acoustics, transformed the space into a living instrument of light, sound, and collective energy, supported by CHAOS with immersive visuals and media.

The Wasserturm Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin’s oldest water tower (built 1877), has long stood as a site of transformation — from industrial infrastructure to a space of cultural experimentation. In recent years, Förderband e.V. – Kulturinitiative has opened its subterranean chambers to artists exploring the intersection of sound, movement, and light.

However, with the scheduled closure of the Wasserturm in 2026 following the shutdown of Förderband e.V., the future of this unique cultural landmark remains uncertain.

Now, more than ever, we must speak up for Berlin’s independent art spaces — those that hold the city’s creative pulse. Write to your local cultural office and emphasize the importance of protecting spaces like the Wasserturm — spaces that hold sound, light, and community in their walls.
